More Wellness Tips from the MyJane Team

To continue our celebration of National Women’s Health Week, we’re sharing more wellness tips from our Team here at MyJane. Here’s how some of our key players invest in themselves to improve their health.


Our MyJane Founder and CEO, Kim, enjoys massage, walks on the beach and a good book.


Kim says, “Taking time out to unwind with a massage is one of my favorite ways to practice self care. The beach is one of my favorite places to be. I enjoy long walks on the shoreline and reading is an excellent way to relax.”


According to the Mayo Clinic, the therapeutic benefits of massage helps to relieve anxiety, eliminate headaches and improve sleep patterns. The power of the human touch is extremely healing. Family therapist Virginia Satir once said, “We need four hugs a day for survival. We need 8 hugs a day for maintenance. We need 12 hugs a day for growth.”


Our MyJane Chief Experience Officer, Michelle, dances and eats healthy food.


Michelle shares, “I love dancing! It’s another way to get out and move and get your groove on. It’s fun and healthy. I’m also focused on eating healthy foods to improve my overall well-being. It’s amazing what a difference organic produce and natural supplements can make.”  


All exercise is good for the soul and dancing is particularly good for you. Dancing has multiple physical and mental benefits including improving heart and lung conditions, increasing motor fitness, muscular strength and overall fitness.


It’s proven that eating real, whole food is one of the best things you can do to fuel your mind and body. Choosing fresh, organic produce is a great investment in your health. When eating meat, choose organic grass-fed and grass-finished beef or wild caught (not farmed) fish.


Our MyJane Director of Marketing, Carolyn, surrounds herself with positive people and chooses natural remedies.


Carolyn shares, “I drink a good amount of water daily which really helps me feel better. I  surround myself with good authentic people in and out of work and I always choose natural medicinal solutions before considering Rx or typical over-the-counter meds.”


The power of positivity cannot be understated. Keeping a positive outlook and surrounding yourself with positive people has many benefits including increased life span, better coping skills during stressful times, and reduced risk of cardiovascular disease (just to name a few).


Choosing natural solutions over RX and over-the-counter meds is another great way to maintain your health and avoid unnatural substances. When it doubt go the natural route.


Our MyJane Social Media Manager, Danielle, focuses on yoga and creative outlets.


Danielle says, “On Sundays, I like to take advantage of the free yoga classes at the beach near my home. It’s nice to center myself before starting a new week. I also took up cross-stitching recently and was surprised at how relaxing it is. Plus, it’s a good creative outlet.”

Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice originating in ancient India. There are many types of yoga including vinyasa, hot yoga, yin yoga, and more. The health benefits include increased flexibility, peace of mind, weight reduction, and improved energy and vitality.  

Creativity is proven to boost brain function, alleviate anxiety, reduce stress, prevent disease and boost your immune system. Investing in a creative outlet or hobbies like crocheting, cross-stitching, painting, journaling, collaging, scrapbooking , or whatever your heart desires, can improve your health.

Our MyJane Content Strategist and Copywriter, Lisa, enjoys sound healing and exercise.

Lisa shares, “I attend one hour sound baths several times a month and enjoy the healing benefits of Tiebetan Singing Bowls and Crystal Bowls. Twenty minutes of sound therapy equates to approximately one hour of sleep and regenerates cells. I also workout two to four times a week at Barre Fitness classes or Crossfit training .To unwind, I walk in nature whenever possible.”

Music and sound therapy has been used throughout the ages to improve physical and emotional wellbeing. The vibrations are said to relieve stress, reduce blood pressure, and improve breathing. Sound healing is considered a type of meditation.

Exercise in any form will also improve your health and wellbeing. It’s important to schedule time to MOVE especially when you work in front of the computer for extended periods of time.
